| Minerals for sale | Friends
of mine who have been
collecting for over 26 years now find
that they can no longer look after their collection. They have asked me
to help them to find new homes for the specimens. So...I am now selling
some of these minerals via an Australian auction
site - OZtion. Check out what minerals I have available at any time by
clicking here.
If there are no minerals showing, it means that they have all been
sold, but there will be more added as promptly as possible. |

| Mineral publications | Australian
collectors are fortunate that
they have access to an
excellent publication in the Australian Journal of Mineralogy, as well
as various Mineralogical Society newsletters/journals. The former is
targeted at the advanced collector and professional mineralogist, and
includes locality-based descriptive mineralogy articles, descriptions
of new minerals and the like. The latter are generally designed to keep
their members informed on what activities are planned, and sometimes
include articles on specific localities, new finds, etc. The Australian
& New Zealand Mineral Collector Magazine seeks to find a middle
ground, being more focused toward the amateur to serious collector, and
being able to provide articles on particular localities, minerals,
occurrences, etc., with lots of colour photography. |

| Minerals from Australia and New Zealand (Census) |
The dream of many mineral collectors is to have a complete listing of the minerals occurring in the Australasian region (comprised of the States and Territories of Australia, and the islands of New Zealand), but of course, this is an unrealistic aim. Minerals new to the region, or sometimes even new to science, are continually being found. Even if this were not the case, the physical size of the data would be more than a single publication could hope to provide, and would take an eternity to produce. The advent of the Internet provided an opportunity to compile a census in a way that is relatively easy to update and can be published and made available to millions of people worldwide. This census is available here and contains in the region of 26,000 entries. Input to the census has come from available databases and publications, and a significant effort by the late John Carroll of Melbourne in particular. Contact me if you want to know the original references... |

| eMinerals |
eMinerals began life as part of egroups back in September 1999 as a forum to share information on the minerals of Australia and New Zealand. egroups was subsequently taken over by Yahoo. There had been a number of issues with Yahoo, including access issues and missing or late emails. Consequently, I established eMinerals at Google instead. |
