- eMinerals - Interested in Australian and New Zealand mineralogy? Join eMinerals@yahoogroups.com today, and share information with around 170 like-minded people, an active group
- Micromounts - a list dedicated to minerals requiring magnification, whether they are actually mounted or not. Thumbnail specimens whose features need magnification are included in the scope of the list. Discussions of collecting localities and of equipment encouraged - over 230 members, an active group
- The rockhounds list provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of a diverse range of geologic topics. Historically, postings have included anecdotes, stories, and journals related to prospecting adventures/expeditions
- Rockhounds (Drizzle) - an unmoderated mailing list for those interested in rock and mineral collecting, lapidary work and other mineral-related hobbies, an active group
- MHA - Mining History Association is an association of about 400 members from the Mining Industry, University Professors, Museum Staffers and others interested in the History of mining and promotes the collection, preservation and presentation of mining history - less than 40 members
- Mining History is an open forum for discussions on the social and technological history of mining around the world - around 120 members
- Geology - a list dedicated to promoting the hobby of rocks, minerals and fossils around 80 members
- LA Rocks is a group of rockhounds generally based around Los Angeles who enjoy talking about and going on field trips. Discussions involve gem and mineral collecting sites and coordination of field trips in southern California - almost 500 members, an active group
- Geoliterary Society is a list dedicated to the study of the history of mineralogy, gemology, paleontology and related fields and to the collecting of the literature of these disciplines - around 50 members
