The Magnet Silver Mine - Waratah, Tasmania
Around forty different mineral species have been recorded, with attractive specimens of crocoite, mimetite, and anglesite, as well as cerussite, still able to be collected.
Colourless cerussite in gossan is pictured (click here) (FOV 50mm).
Collecting on the dump can be a messy affair. The picture (click here) of the open cut shows the fairly typical weather conditions on the west coast of Tasmania.
The Magnet mine is currently designated as a Fossicking Reserve.
